Roorkee. Police arrested two defendants in the unlawful repossession of passengers going to Chardham in the name of green card, fitness and hill license. Police recovered two printers, laptops and other items, including thousands of dollars’ worth of cash from both. The police took them both to court and sent them to jail. In the police investigation, the names of some people have come to light in the illegal recovery. The police are looking for them.
On Tuesday, SP camp Pramendra Singh Dobal revealed the illegal repossession issue by holding a press conference at the SP camp office. He said online green card, physical fitness and hill license are mandatory for those who come to Chardham Yatra. To do this, the ARTO has made a counter at the Narsan border.
Green cards and registration of passengers coming from abroad are being made. In this case, complaints were being received that some people are illegally charging passengers coming from out of states. A case was registered on behalf of ARTO in Mangalore Kotwali. Since then the police have been looking for the illegal extortionists.
SP Dehat said that on Monday, the police received information that a person carrying out an illegal recovery is standing near the Shakumbhari hotel on the side of the road. According to the information, the police arrived at the scene and seized Mohammad Sarbat Gate, Muzaffarnagar, a resident of Anees. Police recovered three driver’s licences, photographic state documents for three vehicles and Rs 4,500 from him. The police caught him and took him to Kotwali and questioned him.
During questioning, he said that he used to do driving license in Muzaffarnagar. After the start of Chardham Yatra, he had come to Narsan four days ago. Here he began to do the work of obtaining a green card and a license from the hill. He used to get three to four thousand rupees from each car. He used to give 1500 rupees to the internet cafe operator and 1000 rupees to the runner who got the fitness and hill license.
After that, it would have saved him between one thousand and one hundred rupees. He said that two days ago he had taken ten thousand rupees from the Panipat passengers. The green card and license were obtained from Sonu resident Roorkee. Along with this, Sanjeev Kumar alias Khedajatt, a resident of Vicky, Mangalore, had also done the work to make the card. The police arrested him after raiding his office at the Nasran border. During questioning, Vicky admitted to illegally retrieving him. SP Dehat said that both have been presented in court and sent to jail.
Names of 15 to 20 people came out
SP Dehat Pramendra Singh Dobal said that it has come to light in the investigation that 15 to 20 people are illegally extorting money from passengers at the border between Narsan and Purkaji. The names and addresses of these persons have been noted. All of this is being verified. After verification, a case will be registered against them and the arrest will be made.
