There is also the problem of overcrowding in these prisons. While the new prison is being built, the prisoner capacity will also be increased.
The Department of Prisons has also prepared a proposal to purchase land for the construction of prisons in three newly created districts of Amroha, Sambhal and Shamli. This proposal will also be implemented in the next two to five years. The government has prepared to make a decision to create 332 posts to start up the Etawah Central Jail and 402 posts to start up the old Bareilly Central Jail within 100 days. Construction of new prisons will also start in Amethi, Bhadohi, Mahoba and Hathras. Barracks and individual rooms are also being built to deal with the problem of overcrowding.
