A sparkling, freshly refinished flooring can brighten any space, however the process of bringing an old floor back into good condition can result in a the mess that most of us prefer to avoid. Refinishing with sandless technology seems to offer the ideal of both worlds with a sparkling clean floor , without the mess of working of sanding. However, the reality lies somewhere in between. Sandless refinishing can have its benefits but it’s not always the best option.

The way Sandless Refinishing Works

Refinishing with sandless, as the name suggests, doesn’t require sanding. Instead, technicians use an equipment with abrasive pads and liquid solutions to eliminate dirt and debris from the floor. The floor is lightly scrubbed when the liquid is used to remove the debris. Because there is no sanding there is only very little dust is created.

Whatever dirt or dust is taken off is absorbed into the liquid, meaning that there is no residue left either in your air, or furniture. After that, the technician cleans and sands the floor. He and then seals the floor to provide the floor with durability and shine.

The whole process of sandless can be compared to last stage of the complete floor sanding, refinishing and polishing process. This is a touch-up process, not a substitute for a full sanding and refinishing process.

When Sandless makes Sense

Sandless refinishing is a great way to remove floors that are old and dull with floor polish and wax and paint splatters as well as minor staining. It’s not able to eliminate scratches and sun fade, dents and grey spots that are caused by oxidation, or many pet staining. It can’t get rid of the polyurethane finish of the floor or stain, meaning there is no possibility of altering the color of your floor.

This makes this method of refinishing a viable way to improve the appearance of floors that are in good shape and is beginning to show wear. The floors that are refinished in by this method can keep them looking great for longer and you can put off the complete refinishing process until five to ten years. This is particularly beneficial when you’re allergic to dust and want to delay sanding the longest time possible.

As time passes, floors get dents and dings which some find to make a statement, particularly when they live in older homes. If you’d like to preserve the attractive imperfections, but want to improve the look of your floor’s appearance, sandless finishing can help you restore the look of the floor, without removing the marks from aging.

Certain floorboards that are thin can be sanded as little as twice or three times over their lifespan. The average floorboard can require as many as eight times. More than that and they’ll become thin and susceptible to cracking. Because sandless refinishing won’t take away the wood from the floor it’s a reliable method to remove dust and old floorboards, without reducing the lifespan of the floor.

Sandless refinishing is affordable and fast. Because it requires less effort as sanding, it is priced much less, and is completed in just one day, whereas an entire sanding and finishing task usually takes two days.

Be aware of the things you’re getting

If you’re thinking of refinishing with sandless be sure to keep your expectations to what the service actually capable of. It could be less expensive and quicker than sanding however it’s not able to provide the same outcomes. It’s basically a deep cleaning then a coat of colored finish. After that, your floors will appear sparkling clean however they will not look “like the new.”

Many homeowners have been dissatisfied by salespeople who oversell the benefits of this service or overselling the negatives of sanding. Beware of salespeople who attempts to convince you that sandless refinishing can completely transform your flooring or steers off sanding with the claim that it can take a week to finish and then make your home dusty.

Dustless Refinishing: A More Clean Method of Restoring Your Floor

If you’ve been researching the possibility of sandless refinishing, then you’ve no doubt encountered the phrase “dustless finishing,” as well. Although they’re often promoted in conjunction they are two distinct methods, and provide two distinct results.

While sandless refinishing works for cleaning superficially and restoring shine, it isn’t able to remove all kinds of damage like scratches. In order to do this, you’ll need to sand your flooring.

Sanding the floor could result in ending up having a considerable layer dust on furniture and floors and dust floating throughout the air for weeks following. Modern floor sanding equipment that is dust-free has made this dust an issue from the past.

This device is linked via a vacuum tube as well as a an filtration device that pulls the particles into a dust containment system. A technician sands floors 3 to 4 times, getting rid of not just dust as well as old flooring wax but as well as a thin layer of hardwood.

The floor can then be stained to your desired colour and finished by sealing it with. Dustless sanders offer the identical results as traditional sanding machines. Although it’s not completely dust-free but it creates only a tiny amount of dust at your home.

If your flooring is good condition, but you’d like to do a quick, cost-effective polish to restore the shine, sandless refinishing can be an ideal option. In order to smooth out the damages and completely bring your floor back to its original state it is recommended to do a complete sanding and refinishing process is the ideal choice. If you’re not certain which kind of maintenance your floor requires, consult to a professional who specializes in floor restoration before making a decision.
