The trailer for National Treasure Edge of History is out. On Sunday, Disney released a trailer for National Treasure 2, the sequel to Nicolas Cage’s National Treasure films. The first season of 10 episodes follows Jess (a young DREAMer) as she embarks on an expedition to find her family’s historical past. Marianne Wibberley — known for writing the first two films — serves as an executive producer for the sequel series, which is being directed by Mira Nair (Salaam Bombay!). National Treasure: Edge of History premieres exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar on December 14.
The trailer for National Treasure: Edge of History opens with Peter Sadusky (an FBI agent) narrating the story. Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs), reprises his role in the movie, although it isn’t known if he has resigned. “This holds a clue to a treasure of utmost importance. I thought about destroying it a million times, in order to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands,” he tells Jess Valenzuela (Lisette Olivera), whilst handing her a map. The trailer also shows Valenzuela’s backstory. It includes the death of her father (a well-known thief).
Sandusky notices a strange necklace hanging off her chest. This reminds her that everything she thought she knew about her father is a lie. National Treasure: Edge of History further reveals that the symbol on her necklace is related to an ancient relic. This leads us to many puzzles and ultimately to an important treasure. Catherine Zeta Jones (Titanic), a billionaire businesswoman, is up against Jess in pursuit of the treasure. The trailer also makes mention of “The Daughters of the Plume Serpent,” which is a reference to Quetzalcoatl, a cultural hero and deity in Ancient Mexico.
The National Treasure: Edge of History trailer blends into a sequence of secret door unlocks and open gunfire. It also includes references to ancient notes that could help solve the mystery. It also teases a small easter egg for Benjamin Franklin Gates’s glasses, — played by Cage in the earlier movies — who has now achieved celebrity status in the universe. The Disney series’ upcoming episodes also star Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano and Lyndon Smith (“The Good Doctor”), Justin Bartha (“Hangover trilogy”), Breeda Wool (19Mass), as well as Justin Bartha (Hangover trilogy).
National Treasure: Edge of History will premiere with its first two episodes exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar and Disney+.
