The District Electricity Corporation has started preparations to recover Rs 25 lakh from 138 families caught in electricity theft. Notices have been sent to all of them. In the months of April and May, where the theft of electrical energy has been detected, the Ministry of Electricity has begun the double recovery of these families by adding the consumption of electrical energy for two years. So far, electricity theft has been detected in 147 places in the urban area of Muzaffarnagar.
Of these, cases have been registered in 138 cases in the respective police stations. In families where electricity theft has been detected, the bill is prepared by adding the consumption of two years of all electrical equipment such as fans, coolers, etc. In which a bill of about 20 thousand is sitting on a family. After the issuance of the notice from the Department of Electricity, there has been a stir in families. Electricity Department officials say the government has put in place strict rules to prevent electricity theft.
