The District Electricity Corporation has started preparations to recover Rs 25 lakh from 138 families caught in electricity theft. Notices have been sent to all of them. In the months of April and May, where the theft of electrical energy has been detected, the Ministry of Electricity has begun the double recovery of these families by adding the consumption of electrical energy for two years. So far, electricity theft has been detected in 147 places in the urban area of Muzaffarnagar.
Of these, cases have been registered in 138 cases in the respective police stations. Electricity Department officials say the government has put in place strict rules to prevent electricity theft.
